A young boy from Darwen has started his very own wheelie bin cleaning business in order to show others it's never too early to become an entrepreneur.

Coby Wright was sat with his dad, Danny Wright on Saturday evening and the pair began brainstorming ideas on how 11-year-old Coby can start his own business. The 11-year-old was keen to start making his own money in order to buy new Pokémon cards.

The father and son initially came up with the idea of a grass cutting service, but quickly vetoed it. Danny then asked his son whether he'd offer a wheelie bin cleaning service to his neighbours and Darwen residents and the young lad was keen to get going.

Proud dad Danny said the pair came up with the idea and posted the offering to Facebook where it's "quickly spiralled from there." He added: "I'm really, really proud of him.

"I'm proud of him all the time but I'm even more proud of him at the moment." Coby's grandfather and Danny's father recently and unexpectedly passed away four weeks ago.

Danny says his son was very close with his late granddad and the new business venture offers a way for the youngster to distract himself and focus on a brand new project.

"His grandpa used to give him a lot of money, for Pokémon cards and whatnot," Danny explained. "So obviously he was like, grandpa's not here now so he wants to find more money for himself.

"I think he just wants to keep himself occupied, I think since it happened I've been doing things to keep myself occupied. Now he can start making more money is a big incentive for him."

Coby told LancsLive himself that he wanted to start the business in order to prove that it's never too early to start. He said: "It shows other people that you can make your own business at a young age. You don't have to be older."

The reason behind Coby's entrepreneurial spirit isn't just to earn money for Pokémon cards or to keep himself busy, but also to follow in the footsteps of his dad, who owns his own landscape gardening business. Danny continued: "I've got my own business anyway, so he's always coming to work with me during the summer holidays.

"He does like working to be fair." Posting the job advert on local Facebook groups, the pair have already received an influx of people asking to have their wheelie bins cleaned.

The pair will visit addresses in Darwen and potentially Blackburn, to offer the service of £5 per bin, with Danny driving his son to the homes in the evenings. Already, they've garnered much attention and plenty of first-time clients.

"One person messaged us and he was really buzzing for Coby being 11," Danny said. "This guy is in the military and he's been to ask people on his street.

"He's got six people on his street that want their bin doing." Coby will start his business of cleaning on Thursday (August 24) where he already has 11 bins booked in to clean, earning the youngster £55 on his first day.

Danny added: "Coby's talking about saving up his money now to reinvest it in buying new stuff to do the bin cleans. I started my business when he was born so he's been around my business all of his life.

"He's a good kid, he makes us proud." Coby is running his business and keeping clients up-to-date on his own Facebook page, 'Coby's Cleanie bins'.
